Spiritual Relationship
So for the first time in a long time, this year i have spent 11 months away from my family due to the Covid19 lockdown restrictions and working from the city, i had to ensure the safety of my family before making any travel reservations and now that its festive season, i had the luxury of meeting my family again. And while i was filled with so much excitement and the joy of re-connection to my family, i couldn't help, but notice the distinct bond between my parents who have been married for over 20 years. I reflected and observed how they've managed to live and grow holistically with each other as individuals in their marriage for all those years and that was a revelation for me.
As i sat there, going through that moment of awakening, it got me thinking that perhaps its about time i write about what's been burning me up inside..... "Spiritual Relationship"..... I have been delaying to write about this topic for such a very long time because i wasn't really clued up on how to start...but then I guess one would wonder what does it mean to be in a spiritual relationship? Is it something related to religion or belief system?
A while ago, I read an eBook by Gary Zukav titled "The Seat of the Soul". He is an American spiritual teacher and the author of four consecutive New York Times Best Sellers. He appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show to discuss transformation in human consciousness concepts presented in his book https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VK36lCFFUAI . And what captivated me the most when i read the book, was the concept of partnership. In his book, Gary Zukav explains the difference between the two archetypes of spiritual and physical partnership.
He goes on to say that "a physical partnership is that of two individuals who come together for the ability of physical survival through finding shelter, fire, food and water yet do not see themselves as equals where power is perceived to be an external force. However in spiritual partnership, multi-sensory humans enter into a partnership that seeks authentic power, to live a life of consciousness. They recognizes the existence of the soul and consciously seeks further evolution. They recognizes the nonphysical dynamics at work, continually shaping and reshaping matter by co-creating their experiences together with each other...."
So in this sense, a spiritual relationship has nothing to do with religion, it is just a connection between two individuals who lives in harmony, understanding and peace with deep emotions.... and sex itself, its not part of the equation. For me, its about giving the other person the freedom to become more of who they are in terms of taping into their true core self, while playing a great deal in helping them reach their true potential in the world. It should not be a relationship where two individuals enters to fulfill a certain role expected by the society, but to be together because they want to be.
I strongly believe that once we all start to recognizes each other as souls, a lot of forces would be conquered and walls would be broken to achieve pure and authentic connections and our splintered parts would be healed.
We would have more laughter in our personal spaces with a sense of cool breeze that would radiates in our gazes and the corners of our lips when we smile. We would raise happy kids and live together in a peaceful community.
I also think that we would learn to give fully without expecting anything in return, we would live in harmony with lively spirits and see our reflections in the faces of those around us, to whom we call friends.
Perhaps one would make a statement to say that the spirit is nonphysical, it cannot be touched or seen with the naked eye..... however i would argue that being in love or anger are both an emotional expression by a reaction to a certain state and in any relationship emotions are involved so in that notion, clearly the spirit already lies as a basis in our relations with other people.
We do not have to necessarily go out our way and search for the spirit/soul when it already exists within our core.
The power lies within us, and not externally through materialistic things such as a degree, your job etc. even though we may need them to survive, but not necessarily to live. Once we start to recognize that within ourselves and those we choose to enter into a relationships with, we will complement each others needs, have a sixth sense about each other, have a sense of security, vibrate a frequency of good energy, have open communication, be respectful of each other and build trust for the success of the relationship while we fulfill our inner purpose or destinies.
